Description: The form of Nīkau is based on the bulb and intersecting leaf forms of a Nīkau plant, the only indigenous palm tree in New Zealand. Unlike the coconut palm which has coconuts, Nīkau is a slender clean looking palm tree. The fronds from the palm were traditionally used for thatching and weaving.

The lamp is named after its shape, which resembles a bag (‘kassialma’ is Finnish for a bag lady).
